About Me

I was born in the charming town of Vandemere, North Carolina, where the land meets the sky, and raised in nearby Bayboro. This picturesque area on the Pamlico Sound was always brimming with fresh seafood!

My childhood was filled with love from family and lifelong friends. One special friend, who was a cheerleader, and I would meet daily in front of my house to practice cheerleading. It was a bonding experience made even more special by the fact that we shared the same birthday.

I’ve been happily married for 37 years to my high school sweetheart, and we have a son who’s an entrepreneur—shout out to TKS Distributions! Our future daughter-in-law is also an entrepreneur—shout out to Jasvisionarygraphix! We’re blessed with three grandsons, ages 10, 5, and 15 months, with the youngest running the show.

From a young age, I embraced independence through various odd jobs, which eventually led me to become an assistant manager at a fast-food restaurant in New Bern, NC. This role provided me with invaluable life experiences.

For the past 30 years, I’ve been employed at Duke University and am now eagerly anticipating retirement. As I look forward to this new chapter, I ponder what I’ll do with my time. I’m not one to sit idly, especially on sunny days—I thrive on staying active. People often chuckle when I mention that I’m not a napper; if you catch me sleeping during the day, something must be wrong!

To keep busy, a close cousin introduced me to quilting, and a church friend generously gifted me my first sewing machine, complete with fabric and accessories. With no prior experience, I relied on my cousin and sister to help me learn and grow in this new passion!

I look forward to creating one of a kind custom design for you or your loved ones!
